Sen. Mark Warner Addresses NVTC Board
Sen. Mark Warner joined the NVTC Board of Directors on Tuesday, July 10, at LMI in McLean for an honest and candid discussion about current issues before Congress. During the meeting, Sen. Warner commended NVTC’s Arlington National Cemetery Task Force for its work on assessing and recommending solutions to Arlington Cemetery's information technology and process challenges.

Sen. Warner also thanked NVTC for endorsing the Startup Act 2.0, which will make access to capital including crowdfunding easier for startups. He stated that 80 percent of new jobs have come from startup enterprises in the past few years. Sen. Warner also expressed his support for visa reform, including removing country caps on visas, STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) visas for immigrants who earn graduate degrees (or higher) from American institutions and entrepreneurial visas.
Sen. Warner also discussed a wide range of topics including the Simpson-Bowles deficit reduction plan, sequestration, cybersecurity, IP protection, insourcing, infrastructure investments and tax reform. He expressed his support for the creation of national economic development tools to help the country compete for international jobs. Sen. Warner concluded by encouraging Virginia’s businesses, which he called the force that drives Virginia’s economy, to get involved in policy issues.
Sen. Warner is hosting a conference call at 3:45 p.m. on July 11, with members of Virginia’s technology councils.
