Community of Interest Day

New in 2023, NVTC’s Communities of Interest (COI) join forces for our first ever Community of Interest Day! Featuring a series of collaborative events between our COIs, this day will include guest speakers covering a variety of topics relevant to the technology industry. Join us for an afternoon of informative conversation, networking, and more!

Agenda:

1:30 – 2:00 PM: Networking and Registration

2:00 – 2:50 PM: Cybersecurity & Privacy and Digital Transformation

Is Cybersecurity the Achilles Heel of Digital Transformation? Most commercial and government organizations are moving aggressively to improve operations and grow revenue using digital technologies. For many, it is a digital transformation. But are we setting ourselves up for failure due to cybersecurity risks? This panel will present the lessons learned and best practices from real-world experiences on digital transformation and how cybersecurity must be embedded in the design and deployment of digital transformation initiatives.

Speakers for the event are Kim Farington and Gopal Rajagopalan. The Moderator is Jim Sprague.

Workforce and DE&I

Workforce Recruitment & Retention with a DE&I Lens: This session aims to provide diverse perspectives, raise awareness, and inform on DE&I programs and tools available to NVTC members to advance recruiting and retention of talent. Speakers will educate on programs that engage students at the middle school through high school levels to promote interest in careers that are industry specific, identify and recruit university and college students educated in technology related fields, personnel with the acumen and skills necessary to be highly successful, and engage transitioning service members and spouses. Furthermore, participants will learn how to leverage funding resources to upscale workforce, advance skills of community members from the bottom-up and attract high quality interns and apprenticeships.
